> PHIL KLIGO (Teenage USA Records)
site : http://www.teenageusarecordings.com
01. TWO MINUTE MIRACLES - volume II (teenage USA)
released on my own label but it deserves to be no. 1 regardless, it's seldom in these days that a full length record beams so bright song for song as this second offering from the genius of andy magoffin.
02. THEE HIDDEN CAMERAS hidden cameras - ecce homo (independent)
a little four track record bursting with gay folk gospel art pop (no fucking kidding) the spirit of their music moves not only mountains but it makes listeners get up and dance.
03. REGURGITATOR - eduardo and rodriguez wage war on t- wrecks (warner australia)
indie art hip hop rock, the best of it all, these aussies rock it good!
04. JERK WITH A BOMB - the old noise (scratch)
bass and drums play slow moving indie rock with brooding country, metal overtones.
05. THOM OWEN - leon's party music (serious)
akin to daniel johnston (outsider art at its best), owen makes fragile pop music that seems effortlessly catchy and simply timeless.
2001 was about survival. about taking stock of my life and my actions. about no longer listening to those that distract. I will no longer contribute to the glut of crap flooding the music market. I will only release records that are 100% brilliant from now on. I promise!

Sinon, concernant l'an 2001, je dirai ceci :
Il faut informer la planète de ceci : Dieu n'existe pas.
Il n'y a pas plus de preuve d'existence de Dieu que de preuve d'existence du Père Noël.
Et s'il existait, sauvons des vies humaines : tuons le.

03. HOOD - Cold House
04. RADIOHEAD - Amnesiac
05. THE STROKES - Is This It
2001 - lost my two best friends; moved into a great flat; signed to 4AD; made a soundtrack to a film no-one saw; spent way too long making an album with way too much interference from people who thought they knew better than we did; wanted to leave the band about 12 times (3 up on last year); saw Soft Cell and New Order; played in Spain a little too much - "out-Spained"; should've learnt French - went to France at least 10 times; should've written a book; increased hatred for : emails (as opposed to talking), mobile phones (other people's), British Transport System (3rd World), the music industry (wankers and liars), London (over-crowded with idiots and violence); found solace in my girlfriend and my family.
2001 was about whether Gain was actually Loss in disguise.

SPARKLEHORSE - It's a wonderful life.
Alors je continue avec KINGS OF CONVENIENCE - quiet is the new loud. Voici la vraie formule de l'année écoulée. 2001 restera à jamais cette année ou le silence était le plus fort.
Et puis FOUR TET - Pause, j'aime quand l'électronique sonne comme cela.
J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé BENT |
> GAVIN BAKER (BILLY MAHONIE, GLIDER, JET JOHNSON)
01 ONE DIMENSIONAL MAN - You Kill Me (Gamma Pop)
02 THE DISMEMBERMENT PLAN - Change (De Soto)
03 FOURTET - Pause (Domino)
04 100 PETS - Easter Songs (Picked Egg)
05 ROOTS MANUVA - Run Come Save Me (Big Dada)
The year for me was pretty good. There was a mighty struggle to get the Billy Mahonie record out but we made it and were happy with what we made. I released a record as Glider on Where Are My Records from Canada. My other band Jet Johnson released a debut single. Also I supported Alasdair Roberts from Appendix Out in my singer songwriter mode armed with acoustic guitar.
Highlight gigs for me was Oxes at the Spitz club and Stanton
upstairs at the Garage. Low times were Rothko and Geiger Counter and Monsoon Basson all calling it a day and Howard from BM breaking his hand.
